Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ for Applicants & Independent Contractors

What kind of roles do you staff through Momentum Ops?

We support a wide range of roles across operations, administration, strategy, and marketing. This includes executive assistants, project managers, HR professionals, operations leads, and subject matter experts for short- and long-term client needs.

2. Do I need to be a full-time freelancer to apply?

Not at all. Many of our contractors work part-time, have full-time jobs, or take on multiple clients. The flexibility of our platform allows you to choose opportunities that fit your availability and interests.

3. How does the application process work?

Once you apply, our team reviews your resume, LinkedIn profile, and any additional materials you submit. If your qualifications align with the types of roles we staff, we’ll reach out for an interview and may request a background check and work samples. Approved applicants gain access to our internal platform to view and bid on open roles.

4. Do you require background checks?

Yes. For the safety and trust of our clients, background checks are required prior to working on any client-facing project. Additional vetting may include reference checks and assessments, depending on the role.

5. Will I work directly with Momentum Ops or with the client?

Both. Momentum Ops will remain your point of contact for onboarding, billing, and project support, but you’ll typically work directly with the client on day-to-day tasks. We’re here to support both you and the client throughout the engagement.

6. How are contractors selected for roles?

Our system is bid-based — meaning you can view available opportunities and submit interest based on your skills, experience, and availability. Clients review submitted bids and choose the professional they’d like to work with. We do not assign contractors directly.

7. Is this W-2 or 1099 work?

Most roles are structured as W-2 employment, but some opportunities — depending on the client, scope, or duration — may be offered as 1099 contractor positions. Each role listing will clearly state the employment classification before you apply.

8. What makes working with Momentum Ops different?

We’re not a staffing agency — we’re an operational support partner that gives professionals the opportunity to work flexibly, bid on projects that align with their strengths, and collaborate with mission-driven businesses. We prioritize transparency, autonomy, and meaningful work.
